Sue had a profound passion for nursing and a special focus on vascular access. Throughout her career as a registered nurse, she was a dedicated educator, mentor, and advocate, leaving a significant mark both within her local hospital and the broader field of vascular access. Sue held prestigious board certifications in both infusion (CRNI) and vascular access (VA-BC), underscoring her expertise and commitment.
Sue was a staunch believer in the importance of lifelong learning—a value she credited her mother for instilling in her. Her enthusiasm for education and professional growth inspired many of her peers, colleagues, and co-workers, all of whom benefited from her unwavering support and encouragement.
In recognition of Sue’s exceptional contributions and enduring influence, a group of her friends, family, and vascular access mentees have established the Sue Smiles Initiative. This initiative aims to honor Sue Boyles, RN, CRNI, VA-BC, by providing educational funds to those who work in vascular access, exhibit clinical excellence, and show a commitment to continuous learning. The funds awarded are intended to support continued education, board certification examinations, or participation in vascular access-related conferences. This initiative is a tribute to Sue’s legacy and her dedication to advancing the field of vascular access.
